Course Outline
It is aimed at fitness professionals or those with a basic knowledge of sports science who want to increase their understanding of the sport of rowing.
This course covers the technical and physiological aspects of rowing, and shares the training methodology used by rowers. Our hope is that with increased knowledge you, the instructor, will be able to offer a higher level of advice to users of rowing machines (either in gyms or at home) on how best to realise the unrivalled physical benefits of rowing.
This Level I Course consists of four modules covering various aspects of rowing:
About Rowing About Training About Physiology About Technique
Each module consists of numerous pages which are laid out in sequential order with a summary and test following. When studying each module simply click next on the left menu column to continue. We provide Adobe Acrobat PDF downloads of the course content (see summary pages) to make it easier for you to study the material.
This course should take no longer than four hours to complete (an hour per module). After studying each module, there is a test which you need to complete and submit to the WaterCoach Administrator for assessment and feedback. The tests can be completed in your own time and in order of preference.
Once you complete the course and have passed each module test with a minimum of 80%, you’ll be awarded with 0.4 Continuing Education Credits (CEC's) as accredited by American Council on Exercise (ACE).
You will then qualify as a WaterCoach Professional Level 1 instructor and will be entitled to the WaterCoach Professional pack. You may then proceed to WaterCoach Professional Level II - a half day face to face workshop - to further expand your knowledge of rowing.
