If your goal is to Reduce Stress
Exercise also releases tension in our muscles by providing another avenue to relieve our frustrations. We can therefore relax more enabling us to "switch off" and think of other things other than the days troubles. In addition the WaterRower has the soothing sound of the water swishing around the tank which aids in relaxation. Psychologically exercise has been proven to reduce anxiety and depression and improve ones self esteem. During exercise, hormones such as nor-adrenaline and endorphins are also released during exercise these result in a natural state of euphoria commonly known as "runner's high". An exercise program in the beginning should be gradual, building up to a level that you hope yourself to achieve. Starting exercise too vigorously can trigger stress instead of reducing it. This is because when people push themselves too hard it starts to become a punishment rather than relaxing. Exercise should be something you enjoy rather than a chore. Remember results will not happen over night it may take at least 4-6 months of regular exercise to see improvements. For further information see our links page.
