Aerobic Fitness

Improvement in aerobic fitness is monitored in several ways:

  • general feelings of well being

  • increased level of energy

  • lower resting heart rates

  • quicker recovery heart rates

  • exercising for longer periods of time

  • maintaining higher intensities for longer

  • improvement on distances for timed workouts and vice versa improved times for set distances

These above points need to be recorded during each workout in order to see progress.

As your aerobic fitness improves you will be able to row at a higher stroke rate and/or at a faster speed for longer periods of time. Also your heart rate will generally be lower (this shows a stronger heart), hence you will need to work harder/increase your intensity to get your heart rate into your required training zone.

Refer to the relevant pages for further information on logging and recording your goals (i.e. heart rates, fitness tests, weight control) during your exercise sessions.
